EXCLUSIVE: Rhi opens up about her relationship with Jeff in the experiment.

Rhi Disljenkovic and Jeff Gobbels made history on this year’s season of Married At First Sight when they became the first couple to have previously been in a relationship before being matched on the show. While their co-stars Carina Mirabile and Paul Antoine had gone on one date together before their TV wedding, Rhi and Jeff dated for over a month in 2023.

Yahoo Lifestyle understands that Rhi and Jeff began seeing each other after being introduced by a mutual friend, Australian Survivor star and TV presenter Abbey Holmes. The pair “kept in touch” after parting ways and attended the same group classes at their shared gym in Melbourne, and also still followed each other on Instagram before being reunited on MAFS.

Although they struggled to get out of the friend zone in the first two weeks after their wedding, Rhi and Jeff are currently one of the strongest couples on the show. Rhi tells Yahoo Lifestyle that she credits their strong bond at this point in the experiment to the challenges the experts set during Confessions Week and Intimacy Week.

“I think we’ve come a really long way considering the honeymoon where we couldn’t be further apart. I still remember thinking to myself, ‘I cannot believe that I’m paired with him. I’ve been with him before, this is not going to work’,” she recalls.

“And then to do Confessions Week and Intimacy Week where we’re kissing, you can see our relationship progress. You can see why the experts really do set those tasks because if it wasn’t for those tasks, we probably wouldn’t be in the situation where we were at that point. So there is a method behind the madness.”

Are Rhi and Jeff still together?

Yahoo Lifestyle revealed during filming last year that this season of MAFS could possibly be one of the social experiment’s happiest endings to date as there was a “record-breaking” number of pairs still together at the Final Vows.

It’s understood that Rhi and Jeff are one of those couples that make it to the end of the filming experience, and there are plenty of hints that suggest they are still together today.

For starters, the pair liked each other’s Instagram posts between October and January, which is after they filmed Final Vows and before they handed over control of their social media accounts. Jeff also commented a series of fire and heart-eye emojis on Rhi’s selfies, while she left a red heart emoji on his post in December.

Major spoiler about Rhi and Jeff’s relationship

Unlike other couples this season, Jeff and Rhi have also been spotted together on numerous occasions.

Jeff was seen dropping Rhi off at her Valentine’s Day event with her female co-stars in Melbourne earlier this month, and they also recently enjoyed dinner together with Carina Mirabile and Dave Thomas.

Jeff and Rhi may be one of the only season 12 couples who are still dating, as Paul Antoine and Awhina Rutene both celebrated their birthdays over the weekend with their respective partners nowhere to be seen.

It’s also been confirmed that Morena Farina and Tony Mojanovski, Jacqui Burfoot and Ryan Donnelly, and Lauren Hall and Clint Rice are no longer together – but fingers are crossed for Jamie Marinos and Dave Thomas!
