After an explosive week of Married at First Sight, a production insider tells Yahoo Lifestyle what really happened behind the scenes.

MAFS bride Jamie Marinos found herself at the centre of all the drama last week after clashing with Rhi Disljenkovic and Carina Mirabile over her arguments with fellow bride Lauren Hall at the couple’s retreat. Rhi and Carina didn’t agree with the way Jamie was trying to resolve conflict with Lauren, which they deemed to be ‘aggressive’.

While the friends appeared to clear the air during Sunday’s commitment ceremony, the animosity towards Jamie had started long before Lauren returned to the experiment as an intruder. A well-placed production source tells Yahoo Lifestyle that Jamie was branded the “producers’ pet” behind her back by multiple female co-stars following several smaller incidents that occurred while filming the show from August to October last year.

“Jamie was pretty much the only cast member to follow all of the rules and on occasion would even let her producer know when people were secretly meeting up away from the cameras, or when they were chatting directly with media and paparazzi,” the insider claims.

“Even now to this day Jamie is the only person playing by the rules and her co-stars say this is because Channel Nine have promised to make her a star with future TV work and projects with the network. There’s a lot of jealousy towards her from most of the cast.”

Yahoo Lifestyle has obtained one picture taken during production of Jamie allegedly alerting her producer of several of her co-stars as they met up at a nearby café.

Another set of pictures taken during production shows Morena, Awhina and Jacqui enjoying a coffee catch up near the cast’s apartment building, but the girls quickly dispersed once Jamie unexpectedly walked past on her way to the shops.

It comes after Jamie told Yahoo Lifestyle her opinion on Carina and Lauren hasn’t changed since filming the show.

“It was really frustrating seeing the approach Carina took, which was this victim mentality, but she wasn’t. No one forced her to argue with me. You just can’t complain after you throw stones just because I know how to throw boulders,” she declares.

“It was like I was constantly gaslit into believing this narrative. Everyone was acting like there were no cameras around even though the whole retreat was recorded. Apparently, I attacked Lauren out of nowhere, I was ambushing her, and it was just all my fault and I was yelling at people for no reason because I’m just an aggressive person. So it’s very frustrating.”

When asked if she was still friends with Carina, Jamie responded, “Why would Carina reach out to me? She doesn’t know how to be a friend.”

She added, “We’re grown-ups, we’ve moved forward, we’re friendly, but at the same time, she’s had so much time to go, ‘Okay actually, this is really bad’.

“There are multiple countries chiming in now going, ‘Carina, look at what’s going on’, and she still can’t put that together. So that to me just shows she still doesn’t get it, she never got it, and that’s not a friend. She’s proved the type of friend she is, so I don’t need that.”

On the other hand, Jamie says she is still friends with Rhi after she apologised at the dinner party that aired last Wednesday.

“I’m friends with Rhi,” Jamie told us. “The thing is, you can see there’s a very clear difference. You’ve got Carina, who still can’t figure out where she went wrong. She’s like, ‘I did the same thing as Rhi’ but no, you didn’t apologise. You doubled down, and you still don’t understand what you’re even talking about.

“Rhi also tried to approach me off camera at the retreat, but I was upset and I was crying in bed all day. Carina was too busy taking selfies with Lauren. Like, Carina didn’t give a f**k, she didn’t care. Her saying she was my friend, I think is just laughable. She wasn’t.”
