Some tough decisions have made the couple stronger than ever!
Bec Hewitt’s heart still skips a beat when she watches her tennis champion husband Lleyton, who she affectionately calls ‘Rusty’, working out bare-chested on the court, showing off a physique every bit as toned as when he won the U.S. Open in 2001 and Wimbledon in 2002.
The two first crossed paths at a charity game in 1999 when they were both teenagers – at that time, Bec was dating Home and Away co-star Beau Brady and Lleyton was with fellow tennis star Kim Clijsters.
“I couldn’t play tennis, so it was quite comical. I didn’t impress him with my game. He just thought it was really admirable that I gave it a go,” Bec told Stellar of their fateful first meeting in a 2018 interview.

Six years later, when the two had both broken up with their previous partners, Lleyton sent Bec a text message informing her of something he was working on, and well, the rest is history!
“We caught up and that was it. It was such a whirlwind, which I think was part of the reason why we ended up with such a lot of attention — because it was after only six weeks that we got engaged,” Bec later shared with the same publication.
“All the family were so happy and supportive. I guess they just saw the two of us together and saw we were happy.”

Fast forward to 2025, Bec and Lleyton have been married for almost 20 years and Lleyton is just as dizzyingly in love with his “beautiful and gorgeous wife” as the day they tied the knot at the Sydney Opera House in July 2005 – and invited New Idea along!
With Bec having put her acting career on the backburner following their marriage, Lleyton told the former Home and Away star, “I am so fortunate to have you” as he was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in July 2022.
“You have always supported me with everything,” he shared in his subsequent speech at the time.

In a later interview, he was full of love for his partner.
“I love her so much and we have a great life together, and she produced three fantastic kids,” he admitted of the actress.
“She really is my soulmate, and we go through absolutely everything together. I couldn’t be prouder to have Bec alongside me.”
The couple now share three children, Mia, Cruz, and Ava. Notably, Bec was several months pregnant with their eldest child Mia on their wedding day!

Nowadays, Lleyton works as a tennis coach for the likes of Alex De Minaur and is a respected tennis commentator.
His eldest daughter Mia has followed in her mother’s footsteps and is currently working in the wardrobe department of Home and Away, as well as performing as part of a rock-folk duo called Father’s Favourite.
Cruz Hewitt is following in his father’s footsteps with a career in tennis, while the youngest Hewitt, Ava is focusing on her studies.
The family now resides in an affluent suburb semi-rural suburb 32 kilometers northwest of the Sydney CBD.
