Married At First Sight saw tensions come to a head between Ryan Donnelly and Jacqui Burfoot on Tuesday night, leaving the bride storming off in tears.
The couple sat down for an explosive meet-up with the groom’s friends Adam and Karla during Homestays Week at Ambarvale Hotel in southwest Sydney.
The pair confronted Jacqui, 29, about her Honesty Letter from the week before, in which she questioned Ryan’s manhood and financial stability.
As the four of them sat down, with Jacqui’s friend Jet there for support, Karla almost immediately brought up the offending letter in a tense confrontation.
‘Ryan told us [about the Honesty Letter]… Obviously, we need to be filled in here, but there were some things that were quite appalling to me,’ she said.
‘It was quite a long time ago, so I can’t remember exactly what I said. But I’d like to hear what you were appalled about and then I can try to address it,’ Jacqui replied.

‘Just subtle attacks to his character and his financial capabilities. Stuff like that,’ Adam jumped in.
Jacqui attempted to explain the letter was written in response to a challenge which asked her to admit to Ryan, 36, concerns she had about their future together.
‘One of the concerns I had is Ryan’s career path is unstable, financially,’ Jacqui explained, but Karla was having none of it.
‘The whole point of being in a relationship is that you need to compromise and you need to bring out the best in each other,’ she said.
Jacqui responded by rolling her eyes and looking away, leading Karla to fire-up with: ‘Don’t look away from me when I’m talking to you.
‘There are points in your relationship where one needs to lean on the other in order for you both to bring out the best in each other.
‘So for that to be a concern is a red flag on my end.’
At this point, Jacqui and her friend Jet decided to leave the table to let tempers cool, before returning with a round of drinks for everyone.

However, the conversation quickly devolved once more when Ryan asked Jacqui to talk about her claims that she ‘never had a disagreement’ with her ex boyfriend.
‘I had really healthy relationships where we didn’t disagree or fight. Honestly, this drama and the fighting and the arguments is not what I like,’ Jacqui said.
‘If you’re not arguing than you’re not in a healthy relationship,’ Karla argued.
Jacqui hit back with: ‘That’s not true… I don’t think you need to have arguments. You can communicate.’
‘So why do you and Ryan have that issue all the time?’ Karla asked, to which Jacqui responded by shifting the blame to her groom and his ‘defensive’ ways.
At this point, Karla had enough and lashed out with: ‘Don’t blame him, Jacqui. You’re quick to point the finger at him but you’re not willing to take accountability.’
Ryan added: ‘I didn’t come here to be lectured and have my character and my identity torn apart in a letter.
‘It does stick with me, Jacqui, because I’ve never had anyone see me in that way before.’

‘Maybe no one has communicated that with you,’ Jacqui suggested.
‘That’s not true, Jacqui, because we’ve been in his life for a very long time,’ Karla shouted.
‘Everything you tells us goes completely against the character we know as Ryan.
‘I think you’re overreacting because everything I tell you is against his character,’ Jacqui said.
The pair then began bickering and shouting over the top of one another, with Jacqui saying: ‘You’re talking over me, Karla.’
‘Well, you did that to me last time, hon. How does it feel?’ Karla remarked, referring to the moment she first met Jacqui during Friends and Family Week.
As the arguments continued among the group, with Jacqui backed into a corner, she bemoaned to Ryan: ‘You want me to be silent.
‘You don’t want me to voice my concerns. You take issue with me voicing my concerns.’

‘Do you not do that to him?’ Karla said.
‘You do express yourself in very strong ways. If I don’t agree with you immediately, I am defensive, I am deflecting. I can’t win in the conversation,’ Ryan said.
Karla agreed, adding: ‘I saw it last time sitting with you guys at the table. You called him a gaslighter.’
‘Because he’s lying,’ Jacqui said, to which Karla shouted: ‘He is not a liar… You were rolling your eyes and laughing every time he spoke.’
‘Because he was lying,’ Jacqui repeated.
‘That doesn’t f***ing excuse your behaviour,’ Karla said in a heated moment.
‘You’re 29, you should not be rolling your eyes and laughing… Regardless of your issues you should still respect your partner in front of other people.’
Adam then jumped into the conversation to back up his partner and friend, saying Jacqui has done nothing but ‘throw dirt’ on Ryan this entire experiment.

He added the final jab: ‘You’ve been absolutely gypped on this experiment, Ryan, by being with her.’

‘I didn’t sign up to this experiment to be yelled at while visiting my partner’s hometown. It’s not the kind of behaviour that should be tolerated at all,’ she said.
